Last week has been relatively busy due to an exam and a presentation. That's why I changed priorities for a short while last week. Nevertheless it is now less busy, except for the fact that I had to hand in an assignment on Monday and one on Tuesday. So, now it's time for a small recap of the past weeks.

Two weeks ago some interesting practicals could be found on the schedule, of which a visit to the Rehab Center of Shamwari. Over there injured and abandoned animals could be found which were treated by vets in order to be released back into the park. In my opinion very nice that this is only done by animals which are injured by human impacts; when it happens by nature they also let nature fix it. Also we have visited Addo Wildlife Sanctuary, a sanctuary for raptors and reptiles which are hurt by human impacts or which aren't native to the area and are therefore illegal. Also we have got the chance to hold a snake, a blue tongued skink and a meerkat!

Also we received two assignments again: finding and identifying 6 amphibians and identifying 8 reptiles. Let's check what's worth mentioning at this moment, concerning the fact that there is still so much to experience over here. Last weekend was my first weekend away here in Africa, I have been to Graaff Reinet and Cradock with 6 others. We rented two cars, which finally were dropped off according to plan after a lot of hustle, and we went to Graaff Reinet. We stayed in a really cute accommodation called Obesa Lodge and afterwards we drove on to the Valley of Desolation in order to experience the most beautiful view ever. The next morning - early morning - we drove on to Cradock for a Bushman paintings tour, which was interesting but at the same time really disappointing. Afterwards we drove around in Mountain Zebra National Park and at in the evening we drove back home for a party at Louis Pub.

Currently I can add, next to Mountain Zebra National Park, two other recent safaris to my safari count: Addo and Shamwari. Both were really amazing and we have seen a lot of animals, even endangered ones! Thursday a bushwalk practical is planned of about 3 hours, in which we will see different antelopes and reptiles, and tomorrow afternoon we will visit - for me the second visit - Frank. Frank is a taxidermist, meaning he stuffs dead animals.

The plan for upcoming weekend is Hogsback with beautiful waterfalls and a possibility of abseiling. I will keep you updated of everything I will experience - hopefully better than the last few weeks. A lot of kisses and have a vodka for me!
